The total number of ,'Pioneers" on record is about 6,000. Of these the occupations of only 1,725 were mentioned; 323 being called tillers of the soil, (including both wealthy landholders and humble plowmen,) 210 house and ship carpenters, 115 tailors, 103 merchants, 91 ministers, 81 shoemakerS, 75 sea-captains, 62 weavers, and so on.
